Osteoarthritis, Parkinson's disease, visual impairment and fragility are few conditions that affect Activities of Daily Living (ADL) in the community. ADL is used to evaluate patients' health status. It includes (but is not limited to) movements like standing, bending, walking and climbing, which are the building blocks of ADL, and hence crucial to an individual's independent living and community health status.
Impaired functional mobility has been found to be associated with a greater risk of falls, loss of independence, and institutionalization. As such clinical projects and research programmes are designed to address the unmet functional mobility needs. The Centre collaborates with pioneers in healthcare and biomedical technologies, and engages allied health and community partners to harness interdisciplinary knowledge and capabilities for effective solutions.
