As a volunteer-driven organisation, the Mind Science Centre relies on voluntary participants and trainers to support the success of our research and community programmes.
Madam Tan Sok Khoon, 65
Since attending AWE sessions over six months in 2017, Madam Tan has been more alert and also has a clearer mind that she said helps her make better decisions. She continues to practise mindfulness every morning and night, focusing on deep breathing exercises. Madam Tan is among seniors who are reaping the benefits of mindfulness practice while trying to keep dementia at bay.
Age Well Everyday (AWE) by Mind Science Centre (MSC) includes mindfulness practice, physical activities, health education, music reminiscence, art therapy and horticulture therapy. Practising mindfulness involves sitting silently and paying attention to thoughts, sounds, the sensations of breathing or parts of the body, and bringing one's attention back whenever the mind starts to wander.
