Centre for Functional Mobility & Enabling Technologies
A/Prof Wilson Wang
MBBS (London), FRCS (Glasg),
There is growing concern over mobility issues and impairments arising not just from degenerative conditions associated with ageing, but also from chronic ailments and sport or accidental injuries.
To address such a wide spectrum of mobility conditions, we firmly believe in a three-pronged approach that tackles treatment, prevention, as well as the harnessing of enabling technologies to generate quantum leaps in the individual’s capabilities.
We invite you to take a tour of our website to learn what we have to offer, and warmly welcome all enquiries for information, collaborations and participation.
CFMET aims to identify and address significant functional mobility needs in our healthcare system and in the community, by harnessing enabling technologies for effective solutions.
Our Centre is focused on the following goals:
- To identify conditions affecting physical function and mobility, in order to enhance outcomes and alleviate disease burden for both patients and caregivers.
- To create effective technology-based solutions for major areas of functional mobility concerns (e.g. joint pain, unstable gait and fall risk), by leveraging on enabling technologies and expertise.
- To promote awareness on the importance of functional mobility and the preventive measures for physical degeneration and injury, in order to benefit physical mobility and function in our society and population.
